Fund Raising Events

Social Scene.
The Christmas Bingo was again very successful with around 50 people attending, mainly being young families who are always very welcome, all the prizes were chocolate and around £126 was raised. The next one is at Easter, on Saturday, 24th March, eyes down at 6pm.

Christmas just seems a blur in the back of the mind now doesn’t it? We now have to get active with our 2018 programme. The first Saturday Coffee Morning went very well, we are now asking for a donation to come in rather than charge as we can Gift Aid donations, and this makes quite a difference to our income and with having to pay the excess on two insurance claims we will need every penny that we can raise!

The next Coffee morning is on 3rd February in church from 10.30am to midday. All are very welcome, as the saying goes ‘ you are not a stranger, only a friend we are waiting to meet’, March is on the 3rd and April the 7th.
Tuesday, 13th February is Pancake Day, and Lesley Walton has kindly invited anyone who likes pancakes to join her from 6pm, at her home 3, Pool Road.

On Friday, 23rd February we are holding a Souper Soups and Savouries Evening at Astley Lodge, Shrewsbury Road, 7pm to 9pm, tickets will be £7.50 each and are available from Judi on 210436 or Wendy 210491. You will be able to sample various flavours of soups some you will know some you may not! There will also be a raffle and bottle stall.

Sunday, April 8th sees the return of our Pet Service in church, more details nearer the time, but all pets are welcome real or otherwise. I will be bringing our wooden life sized sheep! Till the next cup of coffee!

A pleasant time was had by all who attended the recent Pimms and Puds Evening, plenty of Pimms and delicious puds help us raise £286 for church funds. Our grateful thanks to all who attended and helped make it such a pleasant event.

Ride and Stride One final plea for anyone who would like to help us out on 9th September, either cycling, walking running, etc around the local churches! We will have a list of the churches that will be open, ( they sign your card to say that you have called in) between 10am and 6pm,and we will be setting up a Just Giving site so people can sponsor on line which is much easier. Half the raised money comes to our church and half to Shropshire Historic Church Trust which uses it as grants for church repairs etc. More details from Judi Pridding 210436.

Harvest Festival on 1st October. This year we would like to try and return to the more traditional Harvest and would like any donations of fresh fruit and vegetables (tins and packets are still very welcome as well) and afterwards we shall be taking it to the Food Bank in Shrewsbury. The service will be followed by soup and cakes in the village hall and everyone is welcome to join us.

Easter Bingo

We had a lovely time with the Easter Bingo that was attended by young and old and in between. It was very different but fun and raised over £200 for church funds.

Ukulele Concert

Well what a very pleasant evening it was.  The Ukulele Concert was attended by about 60 including the helpers and we were all entertained with songs old and new, even one of George Formby’s songs.  Folks joined in singing along where they remembered the words and a good time was had by all.  In the interval we were served with the usual array of home made cakes and other refreshments.  The raffle was also drawn in the interval with lots of lovely prizes.  Overall the evening made in excess of £400.  so another successful event.  Thank you ladies.

Look out for the list of events planned for the rest of the year coming soon.
