Hadnall Church Social Report for August/September Newsletter

Pimms and Puds

Our Pimms and Puds held on 29th June was a most successful evening raising £505.50 for church funds. The weather was perfect so people were able to wonder around the garden and really enjoy the Pimms and excellent selection of puds . I would like to thank all who attended, donated puds and spent their money so freely to raise such a wonderful amount! Someone has left a pale blue cardigan at the house so please contact me if it is yours. Judi 210436

Ride and Stride

This annual event is being held on Saturday 8th September 10am to 6pm. Anyone can walk, cycle or whatever mode of travel that takes your fancy, I have a list of churches that are taking part and you need to call into these churches to get your form signed as proof of taking part! Jayne Hill our church warden is gamely entering for Hadnall, and would welcome anyone who would like to join her. If you wish to donate, a form will be in church from 4th August, (church coffee morning) or contact Judi, or pay on line at the following web site: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/judipridding

Scarecrow Weekend

Scarecrows are coming! They will be at Hadnall church during the weekend of 8th and 9th September, 2pm to 5pm both days, on the lawn behind church. The theme is ‘ Anything Goes’ Entries are £2.50 per scarecrow, there will be two age groups, one children up to and including 11 years old and second class anyone 12 years and over. Voting is by the public, entries will be numbered and all visitors will be given voting papers to fill and return, final voting results will be announced just before the close on Sunday. If possible please register your entry before the day, either with Judi Pridding on 210436 or there will be an envelope in the shop for entries. We will be having other stalls and refreshments, and if anybody can make us a cake or traybake we would be very grateful. Even if it is wet we will still be going ahead with the weekend. I will have to go and dust off my PC Plod scarecrow, now we have bought a new helmet for him (the last one got stolen!) I am told his appearance with a speed camera did have a good effect on speeding in the village! So please enter and make this a FUN weekend for the entire village.

We had hoped to put on a Musical Evening during October but this will now be next year, and finally the Saturday Coffee morning arranged for 1st December with Clive Handbells in attendance will now be on 8th December as there is a wedding in our church the same time!

Church Social News June/July

The last two months have been a little quieter on our social scene, besides our regular Saturday morning Coffee Mornings which seem to be going from strength to strength!

Sunday,  June 10th, the church will  run a tombola stall for the village fete, if anyone has any item they could donate, packets of food or tinned food we would be very grateful. All fund raised on the stall go to the village hall.

Our next fund raiser is a Pimms and Puds Evening on Friday, 29th June 7-9pm at Astley Lodge, Shrewsbury Road, Hadnall. Tickets are £7.50 each and available from committee members or ring Judi on 210436. There will be a delicious selection of puds available together with Pimms or soft drinks.  We will be having a raffle and a Wine or Water stall, so if anyone could give us a bottle of anything to wrap up for the stall I would be very grateful.

We start the Autumn with our Scarecrow weekend on 8/9th September on the lawn by the church. The theme this year is ‘Anything Goes‘ so get your thinking caps on; there will be two sections, children and adults. There will be a small entry fee, and during the weekend we will be having refreshments and stalls at the church.

One the same Saturday (8th) will be the annual Shropshire Historic Churches Ride and Stride, where valiant people either walk or cycle around as many churches in the area as they can during the day and get sponsored for it.  Details are in church or again, as for any of our fund raisers, please contact Judi Pridding on 210436.

Going back to our Bingo session before Easter that was again enjoyed by all and raised over £168 for Church funds. Smarties Tubes were once more given out around Lent time, and will be collected at Harvest time. Lets see if we can beat last years total.
