Benefact – August/September 2017

It has now been two months since Rob officially retired and the schedule of services appears to be working well. Only one application was received in the first round so the date of Interviews and Familiarisation will now be rearranged and further adverts published.

The Family Service on 9th July was run by the PCC and everyone thought it went well.

A very big thank you to everyone who baked/helped or contributed in any way to the Coffee Morning for Rob and his farewell lunch.

Sadly the Coffee Morning scheduled for 20th July in the Church had to be cancelled because of the Funeral of our very dear friend Win Price. Our sincere condolences to her family, she will be missed by us all. She was a member of so many local organisations before she finally had to go into Bowbrook.

All other Coffee Mornings continue as scheduled except the Saturday Morning scheduled for 5th August. As there is a wedding on that day the Coffee Morning will be held on Saturday 12th instead

Other News

Looking at the photos of the spread for Pimms and Puds on 14th July I am only sorry I couldn’t be there but it was a little far to travel for a night! It was once again a very successful evening and raised £282. Thanks to everyone who provided the lovely puds and of course a big thank you to Judi and Eric for once again hosting the event and organising the Pimms.

Messy Church will be held on Saturday 5th August with the theme “The Lost Son” Please do come and join us. Once again it is in Hadnall Village Hall from 10.30 to 12.30 and is for anyone from the Benefice and beyond for Family Worship and Fun.

Future Date to note.

Our Harvest Service will this year be held on Sunday 1st October at 11.30 and will be followed by lunch in the Village Hall. This year we ask that you bring along produce as in the past to decorate the church. This will then be donated to the Food Bank

A pleasant time was had by all who attended the recent Pimms and Puds Evening, plenty of Pimms and delicious puds help us raise £286 for church funds. Our grateful thanks to all who attended and helped make it such a pleasant event.

Ride and Stride One final plea for anyone who would like to help us out on 9th September, either cycling, walking running, etc around the local churches! We will have a list of the churches that will be open, ( they sign your card to say that you have called in) between 10am and 6pm,and we will be setting up a Just Giving site so people can sponsor on line which is much easier. Half the raised money comes to our church and half to Shropshire Historic Church Trust which uses it as grants for church repairs etc. More details from Judi Pridding 210436.

Harvest Festival on 1st October. This year we would like to try and return to the more traditional Harvest and would like any donations of fresh fruit and vegetables (tins and packets are still very welcome as well) and afterwards we shall be taking it to the Food Bank in Shrewsbury. The service will be followed by soup and cakes in the village hall and everyone is welcome to join us.

Hadnall’s Got Talent This is on 14th October in the Village Hall and obviously it cannot happen without you entering!. Leaflets will be delivered shortly with a tear off slip for you to fill in and return either to me, Judi Pridding or the Village Shop.   You all have a talent and we should love to see it, singing, dancing, musical, even reading a poem or story it all adds to a good evening.

Saturday Coffee Mornings. Our Saturday coffee mornings are going from strength to strength! It is lovely to see so many people popping in for coffee, cake and a chat all for just £1.
They are held on the first Saturday of every month 10.30 till 12noon.Please note that the August Coffee Morning in church is on Saturday 12th August and not the 5th, due to a wedding
