Benefact article – October/November 2017

Another two months has flown by and we are now into our Harvest Season and autumn weather seems to have come a lot earlier this year. We were hoping that interviews would have taken place on 21st September for a new Priest in Charge but unfortunately we once again only had one applicant. That means a further delay whilst new adverts are posted and new dates arranged for interviews etc. In the meantime we will be continuing with the schedule of services you have been receiving. Thank you to everyone who is helping to make this possible.

Your November services and possibly December will be included in the insert with the latest Benefact but remember that October services were included last time so make sure you kept your list handy. Otherwise there will be a list in the notice board and in the porch.

Two services to note particularly are our
1 Harvest Service on 1st October at 11.30 am followed by lunch in the Village hall. This year we hope to have offerings of fruit and veg and other produce which will then be donated to a Food Bank.

2 The Remembrance Day service on Sunday 12th November at Clive. 10.50 am. This will follow the usual format. Please do come and join us.

The School Harvest Service will be held in the church on Wednesday 4th October at 2.30 pm. All are welcome to attend.

Messy Church had four families attending in August and everyone had a good messy time and worship followed by lunch. The next Messy Church will be held on Saturday 21st October at the Village Hall from 10.30 to 12.30. Theme “Peace and Comfort”. This is open to any family from the Benefice or beyond.
There is no charge but donations are gratefully received towards costs.

I am so glad I wasn’t Riding or Striding on 10th September as the weather wasn’t exactly kind. Several riders called in and were absolutely soaked but we did have some visitors. Thanks to all who turned out in the dreadful weather and helped to man the church during the day or who rode (or strode) on our behalf.

Our Coffee Mornings continue as usual with Saturday ones on the first Saturday of the month. A Thursday coffee morning took place in August at the church, hosted by Lesley. September unfortunately had to be cancelled as there was no one available to host and of course we were expecting the Interviews to take place on the same day. October will be held on 19th again in the church and you are invited to come and bring cake as well as eat it. November will be on 16th and will be in the Village Hall hosted by Mrs Diane Clarke. Come and join us for all of them as we share good fellowship at these times.

Unfortunately due to lack of participants, Hadnall’s Got Talent has been cancelled for this year and instead we will have a Bingo Session for families on Saturday Evening 18th November in the Village hall. Look out for details and tickets. Everyone really enjoyed themselves at Easter so come and join us again.
